Homemade Cajun Seasoning
One thing I enjoy doing in my kitchen is blending my own spices to make my own seasoning mixes. Now, you will find me using premixed blends as well in my recipes, especially for my Quick and Easy versions. However, when I blend my own, I can easily control the salt level. And I know that these recipes are a great reference for my followers as well. My Homemade Cajun Seasoning is a great example of that. My experience with commercially made Cajun seasoning has been this. I have one I really like. The rest are salt bombs.
Truth be told I have two versions of this recipe as well, a long one and a short one. I will post the entire recipe here. And if you have the additional ingredients you can add them.
A Word on Spices
When we start talking about making Homemade Cajun Seasoning. I know many of you think to yourself “spices are expensive.” Let me make a suggestion. Buy your spices in bulk. Especially the ones that you use often. And remember they are sold by weight and what their market price is at the time. I have purchased bulk spices in all different quantities and from many different places. One of the places I love to order from is Savory Spice Shop. They have brick and mortar shops all over the US. And if you happen to come across one stop in. They are tons of fun. Of course I have found things on Amazon. And if you live near a Fresh Market, they have a great selection of spices in small bags by weight. It is a great value.
