Secret Menu Items: Polly Claire’s

Friends, today I want to share a food adventure with you. If you are in East Tennessee you are going to love my new segment here on the blog, Secret Menu Items! I am always up for a food adventure. And they can come in all shapes and varieties. Yesterday it was a trip to a tea house in Chattanooga, TN called Polly Claire’s Tea House. It is located in the Historic Dent House.

This post about Secret Menu Items: Polly Claire’s is a combination of two things. First, I want you to know what a treasure we have just down the road from us in Chattanooga. I have been to a tea house before. And I have attended a well done High Tea, but the quality of the food, tea, and service at Polly Claire’s it above and beyond! Second, when I asked they do in fact have two secret menu items! However, you will have to wait on that just a little while.

And just as a teaser…look at that scone! yummy deliciousness! As I said before, this meal did not disappoint. Now back to Polly Claire’s. I attended the afternoon tea at Polly Claire’s as a combination Christmas/Birthday gift for my friend Sue. It was a surprise and I had hoped we would be able to attend during Polly Claire’s special Christmas Tea. Instead we went on a normal Wednesday and had their Afternoon Tea. Oh my goodness was it wonderful. Here is the afternoon tea menu from Polly Claire’s. Not only was the food amazing, our waitress gave us background on how The Queen has her tea! So interesting…

Some of my favorites from the three tiered tray was a warm & spicy seafood salad in a filo cup. I also really enjoyed the deviled egg with candied bacon. As you can see in the photo below. So good you need to toast your amazing meal!

When you look over Polly Claire’s events calendar you will see they often offer special events like the upcoming Father Daughter Candle Light Tea on January 18. When you follow them on Facebook or Instagram you will get alerts when they have special events coming up.

Now making memories and spending time with our friends and family is of utmost importance. However, you will find that I am always on the hunt for that secret menu item, food adventure, new taste experience. So our Secret Menu Items: Polly Claire’s did not disappoint. When I spoke to Polly our waitress she said they had TWO SECRET MENU ITEMS!!! One was and entire plate of cucumber sandwiches! Oh my heavens…could that be my dinner?!? If you look closely at the photo of the three tier tray you will see one of the cucumber sandwiches! They were so delicious! The other secret menu item was a Chocolate Scone. This is a dish they make for the staff several times a week. Apparently they take that amazing scone pictured above, drizzle it with chocolate, and dust it with powdered sugar. I am drooling! As she described it all I could think about was my grandmothers chocolate gravy and biscuits!

I hope you find a reason to visit Polly Claire’s in Chattanooga. It was such a wonderful taste treat. And you will enjoy the entire experience.
