  • ½ brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • Icing
  • 2 c powdered sugar
  • ¼ c milk if icing is thick, add milk 1 tsp at a time to thin
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Sanding sugar in Purple Yellow, Green
  • Plastic Baby or Bean

Instructions

  • Defrost two loaves of your frozen bread dough according to package instructions. Allow dough to rise.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Flour board or counter, roll/stretch dough as thin as you can get it. (mine was approximately 19”l x 5”w)
  • Melt butter in microwave. Mix white sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon in separate bowl.
  • Spread melted butter on dough pieces and sprinkle with cinnamon mixture.
  • Fold dough pieces in half or roll them length wise. Then twist them together. Now, stretch twisted dough pieces and form into an oval. Transfer oval onto a sheet tray sprayed with non-stick spray.
  • Bake for 25 mins or until nicely browned. Remove from oven and place on a cooling rack as soon as it comes out of the oven. Being careful during the transfer to support the joint in the dough.
  • While cake cools mix your icing.
  • Mix milk and vanilla into your powdered sugar. You can sift your sugar if you want.
  • Now it is time to hide your baby or bean for good luck. Carefully hide your surprise and proceed to icing!
  • Once your cake is cooled spoon icing over your cake making sure to allow icing to drip down over the sides. Immediately decorate with strips of colored sugar. Alternating Purple, Yellow, then Green.
  • My finished cake measured approximately 15”l x 11”w
